Biuret Reagent is an aqueous potassium sodium tartrate solution that has been treated with cupric sulphate and sodium hydroxide. This blue solution will become pink-purple when peptide bonds (protein) are present. Comes packaged in an HDPE squeeze container with a PP flip-top cap for drop-by-drop dispensing.
Protein Test – Biuret solution
Add 40 droplets of the test liquid to a test tube.
If conducting multiple liquid tests, designate each test tube with a marker.
Add three droplets of the Biuret reagent to each test tube. Shake lightly to combine.
Note any colour alterations. Proteins cause a solution to colour pink or purple.
