Calcium Acetate, 100g For Sale
Our laboratory-grade calcium acetate has a white solid appearance and is hygroscopic. Popularly used to create Ethanol Jelly, also known as “California Snowballs”
You can easily construct your own ethanol jelly fire starter by combining a saturated calcium acetate solution with ethanol. This makes the ethanol fuel easier to transport and store.
Here is the formula:
Mix 17 grams of calcium acetate with 40 millilitres of water to produce a saturated calcium acetate solution.
Measure approximately 100ml of ethyl alcohol in a separate container.
Stir the ethyl alcohol into the solution of calcium acetate. Instantaneously, a jelly-like substance should form.
Pour off any excess liquid and place the ethanol jelly in a ziplock bag until it is required.
The fundamental commercial mixture was invented around 1900, and its name has evolved since then. In 1918, the manufacturer promoted the product as an overseas-bound soldier’s gift. The mélange is now marketed as STERNOTM for use as a food warmer.
