Potassium ferricyanide crystals are strikingly red and lustrous. Very little solubility in alcohol. In addition to pigment production, other applications include cyanotype printing, laboratory reagents, and electroplating. The compound has negligible toxicity on its own, but it decomposes into highly toxic fumes when exposed to intense heat.
