ACS grade Xylenes, which is 98.5% pure and contaminant-free, is primarily used as a solvent. Histologists use xylenes as a temporary hydrophobic tissue cleansing agent. Additionally, the rubber, ink, adhesive, and leather industries utilize xylene. It is an odourless, slightly viscous liquid composed of benzene and three isomers of aromatic hydrocarbons: paraxylene, metaxylene, and orthoxylene.
